Small sky rant...
I finally bought my own place and completed on the 15th July.
Arranged a 'home move' service by Sky for the 16th.
Installer turned up and couldn't fit on our property due to 'trees', advised us to get private installer which he, and the Sky rep who then called to confirm what had happened, reckoned would cost about £60... He tells me that they will credit me back with the time when I haven't had Sky, fair enough
A couple of very busy weeks go by, renegotiating my contract, trying to find things etc etc before I go on holiday for a week.
Come back and start calling installers who quote me from £120-180 to supply and install the dish (I have everything else)
Am not prepared to pay that and phone then to find out what can be done, they can't make any useful suggestions and warn me that if I cancel I will still be charged for the month I haven't had the service as they have no record of me not having it!
Next day, use Uswitch and contract Telewest for phone, cable and broadband for a fairly good price (although I think it might be frying pan - fire from Sky - Telewest but anyway..)
Call Sky once Telewest install has been confirmed to disconnect. Now informed that I have to give 30days notice and will not be credited for the time I haven't had Sky. I tell them I haven't had Sky for 30days and they can take that as notice, they refuse. I eventually managed to get Sky disconnected from today, but am still waiting for this months bill to come in (cancelled DD as I thought it would be easier to wrangle with them if I have the money and not them!) before I can take it up with Customer Service.
I appreciate that contracually I need to give them 30days notice, but aren't they also contracted to provide me with a service? If they are unable to, despite me attempting to have as little downtime as possible who's problem is that? What gets me is that no-one made a sensible suggestion (such as sending out the long ladders team), phoned to see how I was getting on, made recommendations, OR, and this is the worst, advised me at the time that I'd need to give 30days notice.
Anyway, we'll see what happens, and if anyone has any suggestions they'd be gratefully received. They really are a pain in the proverbial, hope TW are better! ??? ::)
TQ
