Wftc - BIG reduction???
baloo
We have 3 children. My husband works full time & I work 2 days a week. For the past few years we have received roughly the same amount of WFTC. However, last year I did 5 full days overtime at work  - our WFTC stuff came through this week and we will now be getting only one fifth of what we have previously got!!!!!! OMG! My hubby has gone spare! I was only helping work out during a sicky situation and now feel I'm being penalised by the government. It's not as if it's a permanent wage rise.
I've tried phoning the helplines, but cannot seem to get thru.
Does anyone think it's even worth talking to someone? Does that reduction seem about right?
Help please!!:(

That seems abit insane so say you were getting for example 10k a year in WFTCs your only getting 2k now? or have I worked that out wrong lol
surely 5 full days extra would only be a few hundred pounds extra on your income unless you have gone over the working tax credit threshold think it is £16400 per year to qualify for WTCs
Have you got these figures from your new award info or is it what has gone in the bank?0 -
Yes - I was wondering if it's just a simple case of throwing us over the threshold. I suppose you have to see it from the angle that there has to be a cut-off amount of earnings. I know that we are near the threshold as that is why I only work two day and not three. But I don't understand how just a few days extra in one year can effect the whole of your WFTC award. It just seems insane! Perhaps I need to go over the new award and figures with a fine tooth comb (& a calculator!!:rotfl:).
Thanks for your advice!0 -
compare your latest award notice to you previous one and check what income was used on each. 5 days extra work shouldnt really make a huge difference to your payments. how much extra was the household income for 09-10 compared to 08-09?0

i would ring them and make sure they havent got it down as some kind of change of circumstance...0
