Family braved the icy roads for a supermarket trip and came back with pig's cheeks!? (They had a reduced sticker!). I've never knowingly eaten these before - any suggestions for cooking?
I guess we are thinking of some kind of casserole type thing maybe? (We have a a tin of butterbeans, leek, onions, potatoes, bacon, few mushrooms). Does anyone have any tried and tested recipes or tips? I am assuming they will need cooking for ages - we don't have a slow cooker.
All help appreciated!0 -
If you fancy a real challenge then you have the basic ingredient for Bath Chaps - a cured product recently revived in the Bath and Bristol area:

I know that Keith Floyd had a recipe for these but unfortunately my OH took that book with him when he left, but if you Google
cook pigs cheeks
you will get lots of ideas0 -
Hi Greatexpectations,
There's an earlier thread that may help so I've added your thread to it now that your post has dropped down the board.

Shopping yesterday in Morrisons I came across pork cheeks. I'd never tried them before, or even heard of them as a cut of meat.
I don't know whether anyone else has tried them. They're pretty cheap, 4 for £1.30.
They need a long cooking time, I stuck them in a casserole & have just tried a bit, they are very nice.
May be worth keeping an eye out for them.
I now find yet again, another thread, I wish I would remember the advanced search, I need a slap with my pig cheek.0 -
I brought and cooked pork cheeks for the first time a couple of months ago, They were very nice when cooked for a good few hours in the slow cooker.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Pigs cheeks are one of the tastiest cuts of all, I was reared on them.
The only parts of a pig you cannot eat are it's !!!!! and it's grunt !
