Pork cheeks

Options
I bought pork cheeks today from our farmer's market ( have heard of them being the must-have in posh restaurants so thought I'd try to have a cheaper experience at home ) but I can't find out how to cook them - all help gratefully received!

    Hi rosy,

I've never cooked pork cheeks so I don't have a recipe, but I did a quick search on google (really to see what a pork cheek was :o ) and there seem to be quite a few recipes to choose from.

I've just found these for sale in the local chinese supermarket too and I didn't buy them because I didn't know what to do with them.

  • Sorry i don't have a recipe but, Heston Blumintal used them in a recipe he did in the Little chef programe. He brased them if think, but have a look on the channel 4 web site.

  • I have bought some Pork Cheeks from Morrisons, they are so cheap less than £2 for a pack with about 8 cheeks in. I am looking for some tasty recipes to use the cheeks in, I think they have to be cooked long and slowly to make them nice and tender. Any ideas?
  • Hiya. I bought some from Morrisons for the first time and cooked them in slow cooker with the usual veg (carrot swede onion etc) and with some cider added and apple. They did kind of shrivvle up and shrink almost like kidneys by the time they were finished so I had to bulk up with more veg but this could be my cooking skills as I'm no Deliah.

Unfortunately I have no idea what to do with pork cheeks, but just wanted to say Penelope penguin your comment made me smile a lot!

I am a big old style lurker, I just like to read all your clever tips and it's always such a friendly place. Your comment described it perfectly, it always makes me feel like eating a delicious homemade cake and even if I don't have one to hand, sometime you all make me just as happy.
