Ok call me dim but I really struggling to understand what it is exactly they are selling
Sky Talk Freetime is free right? You must have to pay something, also why is line rental optional, surely that has to be paid if not with Sky then with who?
All I want to know is how much it will cost to connect my line and then how much I would pay on a monthly basis, finding it difficult.

Thanks

Line rental has to be paid to either Sky or BT @ £11 or £11.54/month , until recently you also had to have Sky TV but that may now be unneccesary0

What services were you wanting to take, and does that include the TV?
Do you already have a phone line you want to migrate to them, or do you need one put in?0 -
thanks iniltous so what would happen if you opted for Sky Talk Freetime and had your line rental with BT? how does that makes sense from Skys perspective what do they get?
Mark_In_Hampshire bought a new property so no services at present, I just want phoneline probably going with o2 for bbIf no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0 -
In that case it looks like:
Monthly cost: 11.00 line rental with free evening/weekend calls
Line setup:You can order a new phone line from Sky with either of our Sky Talk call packages and we will arrange installation for a one-off additional set-up fee of £25 (normally £39). Once your line is active you can check the Sky Broadband availability in your area.
Alternatively, you can progress with your Sky TV only order and buy Sky Broadband & Talk products at a later date.
It does seem rather complicated.0 -
Thanks Mark_In_Hampshire, well if thats the case, thats sounds good, better than BT. Need to figure out all the clauses, call charges etc now but at least thats a start.
Looking again at the o2 broadband you have to have BT or 02 homephone so thats something to consider too.
To think this is only the phone, will have to do the same for all the other utilities yet! *sigh*If no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0 -
You ask whats in it for Sky if they charge nothing for 'free evening and weekend calls' what they get is the revenue from all other calls, week-day calls, 084** calls, calls to mobiles etc...so unless you only ever make calls of less than an hour to ordinary landlines, after 7pm, then they wont make much out of you on calls, but although I saw some posts that suggested you dont have to take Sky TV, but it looks like you do...no problem if you already have or want Sky TV, but if you ever want to ditch the TV you have to lose the phone service...something to consider (if you are thinking of O2 for broadband) is if you take Sky line rental and they have the ability to connect you to there own 'network' then you will become a full LLU customer of Sky and you wont be able to get broadband off anyone other than Sky...0

I just got off the phone with them and I asked specifically about connection and whether or not it would be a BT line and he said it would be. He didnt mention you had to be a TV customer so I rang back and the woman I spoke to confirmed you do have to be. Looks that a no goer then, looks like I am taking the BT deal.
Thank you to everyone for your help here, can always count on finding helpful people on this site.If no-one expected shirts to be ironed then we'd all have time for more important things:T0 -
What is wrong with these utility companies.... OK it's complex but if even the companies themselves don't understand it, what hope is there for customers... I read only the other day that you can have a Sky phone line without the TV for an extra 2.50 per month. That may or may not require you to take broadband as well.0
