I LOVE well fired rolls
And I mean black, where the top layer is like charcoal.
Canny beat it with a square sausage and a tattie scone.
My dad says that it's the best hangover cure as the charcoal soaks up the alcohol in your bloodstream. This is most probably a myth us Scots have concocted right enough!
Could be that it soaks up any alcohol left in yur stomach - in hospitals they feed charcoal to people that have OD'd!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Tunnocks (home of the tea cake and caramel wafer) also sells bakery products in the Uddingston (near Glasgow, in Lanarkshire) shop- they sold well fired rolls. They were still squashable/eatable though! I preferred the softer ones!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

A very Scottish thing
I'm english, but live in Scotland and have seen many a person with totally charred rolls in their shopping basket - yuk! I'll stick to the rather anaemic looking ones

I have seen those loafs in many Branches of Sainsburys. They are gorgeous. The more burnt the better! They always sell out really quickly in my local store.0
