Could be that it soaks up any alcohol left in yur stomach - in hospitals they feed charcoal to people that have OD'd!

Tunnocks (home of the tea cake and caramel wafer) also sells bakery products in the Uddingston (near Glasgow, in Lanarkshire) shop- they sold well fired rolls. They were still squashable/eatable though! I preferred the softer ones!

A very Scottish thing I'm english, but live in Scotland and have seen many a person with totally charred rolls in their shopping basket - yuk! I'll stick to the rather anaemic looking ones

I have seen those loafs in many Branches of Sainsburys. They are gorgeous. The more burnt the better! They always sell out really quickly in my local store.
