I feel your comments are dismissing all supermarket foods as rubbish, if you have tried them and dont like them thats your opinion but I do like them and would like to recommend them to other forum users
I am not going to apologise if you feel my comments are dismissing all supermarket foods.
If you would like to recommend processed foods full of water, additives and e numbers then thats fair enough.
I have a local market butcher that has very competitive prices and its all 100% meat so I can honestly say that I have less wastage and I know what my family is eating without spending a fortune.
Anyway the OP asked what was the best bbq food and your opinion is Iceland and my opinion is fresh meat marinated in whatever you fancy so before this becomes a debate, we have both in our opinions answered there question.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thanks to the above. You may have noticed I too posted after the party last week that we got a load of sausages and burgers from the butchers for an amazing price!0

I was under the impression part of this thread was asking for people to recommend BBQ foods which i have done, i find your comments to be somewhat off hand and for your information I do care what my family eat!!!
I will not post any other suggestions***** on the road to debt freedom *****

I think you may be being a touch over sensitive TBH
I for one never set out to upset you in anyway and if I have then please accept my apologies, I was only trying to point out that Iceland even find way to process a basic chicken breast to make it go further, this is not a good diet for any family, if you look at an ingredient list and you do not know what and ingredient is then should you really be eating it? It is well known that virtually everything Iceland sell is processed in some way, Iceland is not the only offender all the supermarket freezers are also stuffed with over processed rubbish.
You pulled the "poverty card" as I call it, again no offence intended this is just the term I use when posters point out they cant afford something, I was simply pointing out that "affordability" is not an issue really in the quality of food you are eating, as has already been pointed out the less processed foods which cost a few pennies more do tend to stretch an awful lot further and also provide a much more feeling of fullness than the cheaper products which contain a lot more water and some frankly quite nasty things that you should not be eating.
By the time you filled your trolley with all the so called value products and handed over 20 quid at the till I could provide decent food that you know what it contains and will taste a million times better for the same money.
You reccomended Iceland I simply have a different point of view that I put across in my posting, instead of just saying yuk dont eat the dog food they sell I went on to explain how you could make a few of the nicer things yourself cheaply, at no point did I intend to "have a go" at you personally, from memory the title of this thread not only asked for good reccomendations but also "the ugly"...............................
ANyway peace out we all do things differently just because I do things my way does not mean it is a better way than the way you do things, I can only offer an opinion on that again some may agree some may not"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
OK i accept what you are saying but I look at it from the view that if I have say 15 people coming for a spare of the moment BBQ I dont always have the time to go and buy fresh meat or defrost it from the freezer. If it was me and the OH having a BBQ for 2 we normally have steak, lamb and pork chops all from the butcher, but I couldnt possibly afford to buy this for a large group, I was mearly saying I had tried the chickens and liked them. I do care about my family and what they eat which is the part i was more offended by***** on the road to debt freedom *****

Well please accept my apology the last thing I wanted to do was hurt your feelings I am sorry for that"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -

I think you are taking this a bit too personally. People are allowed a different opinion than you.
Sorry if you find my comments offhand, I have answered the OP as they wanted to know the good, the bad and the ugly and I have given my opinion.
Can we now draw a line under this?I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know.
