Wedding Post Box Tip

Since I objected to paying lots for a cardboard box...!
I bought one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/METAL-POST-BOX-WHITE-LOCK-HAS-2-KEYS-LETTERBOX-/380240679337?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Home_Garden_Door_Accessories_LE&hash=item58881c51a9
It's amazing - price would be three times as much with the word 'Wedding' on the item.
This is a lovely quality metal post box, actually designed for fixing to the outside of your house! It's really cute, and I made a card that I stuck on the front with our names and the wedding date, then I stuck these on it too, around the card and on the roof:

You could decorate it however you wanted to with ribbon or other craft materials. It's really sturdy and a nice weight so it shouldn't get knocked over.

Hey,
Hope I'm not coming across as completely uneducated but do you mean having a post box especially for the RSVP's? I've never heard of that before!0 -
Louise: It's for people who request money / vouchers instead of gifts. When the guests turn up they have nowhere to put the card / envelope with gift inside. So a post box is a secure place to put them!
Have heard many horror stories of people who just have a pile of envelopes on a table and then a few envelopes go missing (not hard to slip 1 envelope under a jacket which could contain hundreds of pounds!)Green and White Barmy Army!0 -

I've not heard of them either but wonder if it's for guests to maybe post cards/money/gift vouchers at the reception?
Just a guess, looking forward to finding out the answer.
Thanks, we both posted at the same time and now I know :-)Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"0 -
Thats lovely! In an even cheaper stylee Ive already made one out of one of those boxes that reams of paper comes in at work - will make someone guard it during the evening.0

What a good idea! Have you got a picture of it all done up?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Oh I see, that sounds lovely! I did wonder about where to keep the envelopes so that's definitely a good idea.0 -

Our cake lady has a contact who prepares these to coordinate with the cake - ours will be £15 with matching ribbon and a hand made tag with our names & the date of our wedding on.0

ive ordered one of the metal ones, and have been sitting designing my wee tag to go on it!
thanks sarah, so much better than the cardboard ones, you can lock it and worry less about the cards etc going missing.0 -

Ours will be in the same room as us for most of the reception, and then going into the hotel safe.0
