27 month old Freezer Broken!

Help please!

I bought my Zanussi freezer 27 months ago with a 24 month warranty (price paid: £470 - not a cheap model!). Unfortunately it packed up. I therefore called for an engineer to come take a look and he advised me that the circuit board had broken and it is not worth replacing. I wasn't to impressed by this so I called Zanussi to see where i stood. They advised me that the life expectancy of the model is 5-7 years and that because it had gone wrong in such a short space of time they would consider offering money for a repair/replacement but would first need for one of there own engineers to inspect the freezer. (at our cost!). I had the engineer inspect the freezer and he came to the same solution but said that the Circuit board could be replaced. I then called Zanussi back to be told that I was mis-informed previously and that Zanussi do not offer any payment towards repair/replacement and it was nothing they could do! I was disgusted as I had now spent an additional £40 on a 2nd engineer because of there say so.

I wrote a letter to them saying that this is not acceptable and that the average life of the freezer according to Zanussi is 5-7 years; the cost involved is certainly not that of a ‘budget’ model and therefore I feel that the product is not fulfilled its standard of quality.

They are still saying that they wont do anything. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME ANY ADVICE to where i stand with this? Do I have any rights?

Any rights you may have are against the seller.
I assume you didn't buy direct from Zanussi?

Go back to the seller and explain your problem and what you want to happen.

Unfortunately, they may well want some proof of purchase.
