Buyers solicitor - conflicting info - can i call them myself?

Selling a house, given conflicting information from estate agent. I speak to one person and they tell me they have the mortgage offer, a few days later i get told they havent got it. Last i heard they said they had it and the contract was going out, this was over a week ago.
I rang estate agent today and was told mortgage offer is still outstanding, yet the day before, im told the contract is going out today once they have checked over it.
Im getting a bit fed up with it all now, and i dont know what to believe from the estate agent.
My solicitor wont ring them either to find out, she says they need to get in touch with them when they are ready.
Can i ring their solicitor to find out exactly what is going on as i cant be doing with all the lies at the moment. I just want to know if im moving or not.
Some people get on my nerves. they think they can be so laid back when buying a house, but i need a removal firm, a date, time of work, packing and yet the buyers never chase ot do anything.

Can you call into the estate agents? Do you know which agents you spoke to?
If you can stand in front of them together and say "X says this and Y tells me that" you'll have a much better chance of making them get their story straight. And if they have got the mortgage offer, they can get it out to show you (not necessarily so you can read the details but "here, look we have it" - admittedly could just be any old bunch of pages but I'm sure EA's aren't that dishonest :rotfl:)0 -
You can ring their solicitor, there is no law against it. BUT you will get a very frosty reception and told to go away. Don't worry, they are supposed to. I think they may speak to your Agent if he rings, but I would guess he is likely to keep that in reserve.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

From what you have been told, it sounds like the contract has gone out to the purchaser, but they are still waiting (or trying) to get a mortgage offer.
You lawyer sounds rubbish - can you fire them and get one that knows how to use a phone?I am a Mortgage Adviser

You are paying your solicitor to work for you , not just to sit on his/her hands . Call them up & tell them you want immediate answers !0

The estate agent that is dealing with it has the whole chain, there is four of us in total, all selling and buying through them. Im 2nd in the chain. Everyone is ready, but told they are awaiting on my buyer. I just want to know that this contract has gone out and that we will be exchanging next week. I dont get why the estate agent cannot feedback the correct information to me from his solicitor.
Im going to call them at 5pm and request to speak to the manager. I think ill have to threaten to break the chain down and rent instead of buy due to the lack of support with the sale.0 -

Don't threaten anything you are not prepared to carry out. How long have you been waiting now for things to move?
Very easy to be overly impatient when moving (been there done it myself!) but your solicitor and the agent will probably be doing what they are paid to do and keep things moving along whilst managing everyone's expectations, after all they don't get paid if they don't make it work do they?
If you aren;t happy with your solicitor then change solicitors but don't pay him to do something and then do yoru own thing
Best of luck0 -
Hi camper,
Don't ring the buyer's solicitors - they are not allowed to talk to you by law.
I agree that your solicitor should be doing the chasing but please be aware that if its the mortgage offer they are waiting for then really there's not much they can do as it's in the lenders hands (and they are generally useless at giving timescales)
Also I've always found estate agents usless at passing on the right information. Either they don't understand what's going on and make something up or just tell you what you what you want to hear.
But saying that there are some very good e/a's around but I'd still trust your solicitor over them.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
