RAC - trying to reduce renewal fee
Options
hi there OH has been with RAC for about 30 years and this year I noticed his renewal is £176 (that's including his £20 loyalty reduction!) However i can join as a new member for much less than that. Can he cancel his membership and re-join and does there have to be a gap? He doesn't want to be left even for a couple of days without cover. We've had his renewal notice for over a week and the money will be taken from his account this friday 11 june so we need to get movng. Any ideas which is the best way to achieve this and the best deals around at the moment? I was surprised there was no quidco available but noticed there was a 0800 number to ring which came with my tesco card update. He's got the fullest package available. thanks for any tips.

If you phone to cancel they will offer you a reduced price to stay. If this doesn't beat/match the price for taking out a new membership, then just confirm the cancellation, cancel the DD (before Friday!) and join again as a new member.
You could have saved a fortune over the last 30 years. There are cheaper options than RAC - see http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/roadside-recovery0 -
Alternatively, Tesco Clubcard deals look good. :beer:0

thanks both - those tesco clubcards prices are amazing and I've seen them mentioned on here before, but I don't really do much shopping there so only amass a couple of small vouchers across the year. thanks for the tips.0
