Hi any advice appreciated
Does maternity allowance affect the rate of LHA that you are entitiled to? I know it is not used in tax credit calculations. (please correct me if I am wrong
:D:D )
I have googled but cannot seem to find out.....

Yes it does! Well it affected mine and with MA I was getting slightly more per week than what I was earning and my award was adjusted and I had to pay more towards my rent.0

Hi,
This is the issue I am having! I have only just gone onto IS as I was made redundant and I really DO NOT want to have to faff everything around again!
Do you have to claim MA?
Or is the onus on you to do it and if not IS will be paid as normal?
Also does MA affect the surestart grant?
It is soooo confusing!0 -

You dont have to claim MA no. But your entitlement for IS will end a few weeks after your baby is born unless you are a single parent. So you will have to switch over then.0

Thank you for this, only just seen your reply!
I am indeed a single parent, so I assume IS will just roll on?
No need to swap to MA then!0
