Again I concur with previous posts. Setting a standard postage fee is just going to cause you real problems. The first buyer who gets a flimsy blouse with £1.51 stamps on it and who was charged £3 will hit your stars and your selling will suffer.

If you ar egoing into business properly then a standard rate might just work as you can take the variations in stars, however a small seller really must be more accurate in their charges.

I don't have scales and I don't want to weight every item - it will take forever. I am thinking of charging £3 PandP for each piece of clothing and hoping that it will all balance out with regards to the smaller and bigger items costing less and more respectivley.
Buy some cheap digital scales it takes 2 seconds to weigh as you list an item if you do a stndard rate your stars will dive bomb and you will get less customers and less money

I also wanted to ask about Ebay's charges - why are you charged as a seller, you are down before you even start?
Because your using ebays service to advertise and sell to a worldwide audience. If you tried to get this sort of advertising your self it would cost far more

Do people think bidding or Buy it now are the best ways to sell?
it really depends on the items. Have a look through completed listings and see what similar ines have sold for and how they were sold (go to advanced search)

Being a good seller takes graft, like everything else. You can always sell the scales on Ebay when you're done, so keep the box ;)

A big time saver is to use the Royal Mail web site to buy postage online and print out with the address and your CoP. And buy some stick-on A6 document pockets to save you have to write out the address or faff about with sticky tape. Of course, your local post office will get shirty as you're not buying postage over the counter :)

Also a set of those blue plastic mailing bags with the tear-off sealing strip is a big time saver.

If you're doing a number of sales on Ebay/Amazon it needs a few £ spent up-front.

    Good advice so far...

    Where are you from?

Maybe a money saver who lives near you will list the items for you (preferably one with high ebay feedback!) for a fee if you don't have the time to?:money:
