I changed my gas supplier but THEY messed up
I moved house and asked for my gas supplier to move with me to my new property (knowing they have cheapest price - british gas), orginally my new house was with e-on.
They still not have sorted this after 4 months! We are still paying for e-on rip off rates, not only that BG have accidentally mixed up the meters so we're paying for another house's supply! BG now tell me it can be common for this mess up with newer houses, as the national grid mix up plot numbers with house numbers! So much for saving money! :A

As you don't appear to know what your annual consumption is likely to be in kWh, I'm not sure why you think BG will be the cheapest.

Even if they are the cheapest, sometimes it's worth paying a little more for better customer service."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
With regards to the meter mix up issue, it could be that the problem may have already been there on the national industry databases while Eon had supplied the property already.
I am not sticking up for BG here, but the amount of times that I have seen that the plot number does not equal the actual house number when it is built is a very common issue.0 -
Hi thegurll - After 4 months there is obviously a problem with your Switch from E.on to BG, which could be: 1 Resolved tomorrow 2 Rumble on for months 3 Never actually happen.
Unless you have already changed tariffs with E.on, as a new customer you would have been placed on an expensive 'Standard' tariff with no discounts - BG would have done the same if the position were reversed.
Assume the worst will happen (2 or 3), and talk to Eon today to get yourself on a better tariff, but because of the Switch that has started, avoid any tariff that has a lock-in period and fee for leaving early

The mix up between house/plot numbers and meter numbers is common on new builds I understand.
It seems to be the builders fill in the wrong details on the paperwork they send off the the energy companies. Don't expect it to get sorted out quickly, but if you speak to the right department and get past the call centre (misconnections in EON) they will alter your bills by hand so they show the correct meter readings and you will only pay for what you have used.0
