    Op your halogen heater will consume a of of energy at least 500w up to 2Kwh, it cheaper to use gas for heating

    THanks for all the help with this. I've been in touch with Colin, Scot Power rep, and everything is ok now.

    I've learned some lessons from the advice given above by everyone and i'll be making serious inroads into chopping our electric bill.
