Pre-existing medical conditions

Take a look at the wording of any policies underwritten by Fortis, such as the Post Office or Principality Building Society. They list some specific things which you will not be covered for unless you phone their screening line and disclose. Apart from that, you don't need to disclose that anything other than the things on the list and you are fully covered.
I have several things which most insurers would count as pre-existing conditions, and I was being quoted £500 for annual cover by a pre-existing specialist. However, with the Fortis policies none of my symptoms and treatments are required to be disclosed and so I am fully covered, at a premium of £50 per year! I reckon that there are lots of people who have no pre-existing conditions, according to the Fortis definition.koru0 -

My mum took out travel ins with Liverpool & victoria via Nationwide for a year for herself and my dad declaring what pre-existing medical conditions they believed they had, unfortunatly my dad died 4 weeks before their holiday of an Aortic aneursym, on the medical certificate the doctor filled in it she mentioned that this had been detected 4 years ago however they were just gonna keep an eye on it, my dad never received any treatment, consultations, further tests, medication nothing was ever heard about this until about a week before he died when he had a cat scan. Liverpool & Victoria have rejected the claim because of this, is it worth challenging this as they didnt declare it due to them not thinking of it as a PEMC as my dad had not shown any symptoms and I believe they had quite simply forgot about it, they have lost a lot of of money approx £1200 they got a partial refund of 30% from Thomsons. Any advice will be grateful.
A challenge may be unsuccessful because your parents didn't understand what they were being asked, but I suspect they assumed they did. The condition existed before (pre) they applied for the insurance. That it needed no treatement other than 'watchful waiting' is immaterial......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Note that the Fortis definition varies. Post Office not the same as Principality or A&L. (PO has changed definition from previous years.)koru0
