New Printer

I'm on the look out for a cheap-ish new printer and having had my last two printers (an HP and then an Epson) pack up prematurely I want to try an alternative make this time. Looking round at the various web-sites such as Amazon,PC World, Comet etc. I have decided that a Canon might be an option for me. However I have been unable to find a Canon on sale at the moment which has cheap compatible cartridges available. Can anyone suggest where I could find a good Canon printer which has compatible cartridges avaialble? I suppose I would consider another brand (lexmark?) if the deal was right. I am not too bothered about having a decent photo printer as I tend to take most of my pictures to a shop to be printed - I just really need it for printing e-mails/word documents and maybe the odd photo.

Do you know if lazer printers get clogged up the same way as ink jets? ie if I don't use it for a few weeks will it still work well?! Thanks! Gabi0

No lasers don't get clogged up, and the although the toners cost more than inkjet cartridges, they last ages, mine is 12 years old, and still on it's first toner. If you don't need colour, inkjets are a waste of money.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
