My son was shot in Afghanistan and he is now back home. My question is do we have to pay for the prescription charges for the drugs he needs. He has just about run out and we've just been to the GP for a prescription. I should of thought to ask the GP but it didn't enter my head. He isn't back in Selly Oak for another 10 days so can't get them from there

Carlsberggal,
Im not really too sure on this as this is something ive not come across. Ive always been advised to travel to my nearest military unit to see a doctor.
Your best option could be to speak to his parent unit medical centre for further advice on what to do, or even someone at Selly Oak.
They may refer you to a military medical centre closest to you, for the continued issue of medication.
But something i cant really answer, as i dont really know.
Sorry,

Thanks Alias - I will nip home and get the welfare officers number at Selly Oak and give him a bell. To be honest I thought they would of given him enough medication to last until he is next down there! To love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0

He will not be exempt but should be able to reclaim the charges from his unit. Ensure you get an FP57 from the chemist as well as the till receipts. This applies to all service personnel away from their unit on leave etc if they cannot get to a service medical centre.0
