Rats in the garden

I've noticed a couple of rats in the garden around my daughter's guinea-pig hutch - yuk! I've just put down some poison for them - does anyone know the best way to kill these little blighters? I'm a bit phobic about rats and mice, so please don't suggest catching them and releasing them elsewhere!

There are plenty of threads on this subject tbh, but basically poison them and be scrupulously clean with food around the GP's and the garden.

Not money saving but phone your local council who will have a pest controller or will put you in touch with one. They will set traps and also search out for nests that have the babies in them.

In my old house that I lived in with ex-hubby we had rats, the pest contoller found a nest under our neighbours paving slabs by their front door  and they set up some traps with bait. They also told us not to put food out for the birds on the ground as it will attract rats. If I were you I would make sure that you sweep up any spilled bedding or food everyday from round the ground near your guinea pigs hutch.

    Good luck :)

I would suggest putting the hutch on stilts, then at least they would have to climb up. They are after the food. So tidy up well.
    Kind Regards
