Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Sunday 6th June. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning, up at 5am again:o After years of being up at this time I even wake now when DS isn`t here so can never get a lie in:cool:
He flies at 6.40 so just going to track his flight and once he lands I may calm a bit. I do worry about Spanish flights due to ETA. It may sound odd but having lived in Spain there are a lot more ETA bombs going off than we get to hear about over here, usually a couple of times a week:eek:.
Today I have a Sainsbugs delivery coming and am going to do a bit of a declutter in the house as I never get the chance.
I also want to get a cake made and some bread.
It is raining again here which is good for the veg in my garden. I noticed yesterday that I have some courgette flowers coming on my plants:T
Well off to get a coffee and will check back later, also need to have some headache tablets as I can feel one coming:o.
I had a horrendous dream last night that I was having an affair with Nick Clegg:eek::o whats all that about:eek:

            Morning noahsmummy & everyone else
can a serial lurker & occasional poster join in?
Been up since 5.30 with 8 month old DD; DH & 3 year old DS up soon; wet here so any washing going on airer. Tons of ironing to finish & kids' clothes to sort as baby's outgrown nearly everything - dropping hints to friends for anything they've done with!
Hope to do some baking this aft - 3 year old likes beating eggs & licking spoon when I make buns, & likes deciding what flavour to use! :rotfl:
Will pop back later - hope your mornings start well!

morning NMP, cheapskate and anyone else!
Once again its grey and drizzling here, its feels like winter brrrr
Taking me and DS2 to the doctors at 8am today, another blister mysteriously popped up on my hand on Sunday, and DS2 has run out of nasal spray.
After that a play area and then back to sorting stuff in the house, ironing uniforms for tomorrow and packing DS1 up for his trip.
OS stuff - housework, finish making curtains, i'm determined to finish them by tomorrow.
See you all in a bit!0 -
            Good Morning All
Try not to worry too much NPM
Welcome Cheapskate
Grey and overcast here again, think that is the forcast all week. Will still try and get some washing dry. Was proud of myself yesterday, washed, dried, ironing and put away all on the same day.:T
Need to check my banks in a mo, one of them had a technical glitch yesterday and I was unable to make some urgent payments, hope they have it sorted now.
Will be pottering around the house today, think OH (who is at home) wants to pop out later but nothing exciting.
Have a good one.x0 -
            Morning all
Wet, dark, damp and chilly here, that's a British summer for you!
Had a bad day yesterday, work was busy and then I couldn't balance my figures at the end of the day, hence was late home from work and I was babysitting nephew so SIL could go to the hospital with OH to see nan. She's deteriorating quite rapidly, I went with OH on Sunday evening and OH said she was much worse last night, so we think it could be anytime, but if we hear no different we will go tonight as I have managed to organise some childcare.
On a cherrier note, have been quite good with OS spends didn't spend hardly any money this weekend and shopping bill was quite a lot lower than in recent weeks, and we are still using up food from weekend, will just get some jacket pots to leave in the oven on low before we go tonight then at least we will have something ready if we want to eat when we get back. Got up with OH this morning at 5am as he's on early turns at the moment, had coffee then decided if I went back to bed I'd wake with a bad head so didn't bother, been on pc for a while, getting some dinner ideas as yet again we seem to be eating the same meals. I made some choc krispie cakes last night so at least DS1 and DS2 have a sweet treat for the pack-ups.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

            Morning all
NPM (((hugs))) once you know they have landed try and enjoy some time to yourself.
The rain has stopped here, thankfully.
I didn't sleep very well last night. I didn't mention in my posts yesterday but as you may have seen in the news the ex Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable passed away. In my mis-spent youth I spent quite a bit of time with the band just before they got famous as I knew someone who knew the band. I used to go to all their tiny gigs in pubs etc, and hang out with the band after. He was such a lovely guy and it's so sad that he has gone. I hadn't seen him in a few years other than bumping into him in Tesco once. He always had time to speak to fans too.
Anyway, today I'm going to a Health & Safety course - yawn! And tonight is the start of a 5 week Welsh class I'm thinking of joining, but it depends on how I feel when I get home as I may have had too much learning.
Hope you all have a good day

            Morning Everyone.
Weather is pretty much the same up here.
I have just had a cooked breakfast as part of my new weightloss regime, how that can be weightwatching, I'll never know. Well, hopefully I will, but it was a lot more than I'm used to at this time of the day. " quorn sausages, an ebb and half a tin of beans. I am stuffed.:D
WM is on again(where does it all come from?) Boys are still sleeping:eek: but all their stuff is organised, and we don't leave til 8.45, so it should be OK. No OS plans other than w*rk, then off to the chapel at six tonight, my sister couldn't even speak last night, she was so distraught, I think holding it all together has become too much for her, and she had a wee breakdown when the kids went to bed. She's such a resiliant person, I was quite upset hearing her like that, but I'm sure she'll be fine.
NPM have a hug from me, and try and enjoy your time.
Kezlou, I can't believe that your hand is still playing up, hope you get help at the docs.
Hugs to everyone, including all our poorlies and missing, including Eeyore;), who I think about regularly and forget to mention!

            Morning all,
Wet here too, I spent most of yesterday in the garden digging over a huge raised bed, which the previous owner had put in and then neglected for years, it was hard work, but it looks much better now, I put in a rhubarb plant, which I bought with me from the last house, and 2 x redcurrant and 2 x blackcurrant, should have some fruit next year :j, there is a lot of space to fill yet, but it looks better.
NPM, I am sure you will feel better once he has landed, I was on the flight checker all the time my dd was in the air
, but did feel better once she had landed. Are you able to contact your ex at all while they are there ? the odd text might put your mind at rest xx
Today I have my at home job to do this morning, then I need to do the online shopping, and make some twinks. Dinner tonight will be jacket spuds, with cheese, ham coleslaw etc. Need to do a wash this morning and will hang it on the airer.
It turns out that the cute mouse that little dog has been after, is in fact a rat , I suppose its inevitable, there are loads of fields nearby, but I am going to have to move the bird feeders from off of the hedge, it has a cushty life, hidden in the hedge and feeding on the birds food
DD got on well at work experience, she was in wood restoration yesterday, and today will be in the cafe :T, we are going up next week for lunch when she is in the cafe again
Nmlc, thinking of you all xx
Flutterbyuk, how very sad, big hugs xx
OK better get on, have good days all xx0 -
            Morning everyone
It is very damp and miserable here today, I was hoping it would be nice so I could get the bedding dry...Looks like it will have to wait.
Not aln awful lot going on here today, just a trip upto the post office and to Mr T's to pick a few bits up, then back home for a quick tidy up, then if the weather stays miserable myself and DS will have a lazy afternoon on the sofa, reading and watching a film.
Just been out in my garden, to take a look at my veg patch, I am so pleased with how they have all come along, especially the runner beans, Broad beans, potato, tomato, courgettes and the herb patch:j there really is nothing better that looking and thinking to myself "I grew them" :rotfl:
After being inspired by reading the Elderflower thread on here, I purchased the Richard Mabey book "food for free" yesterday, so will be off at the weekend exploring the countryside/ woodland
After a few weeks of looking for wild garlic, we managed to locate loads, so intend to make some delicious wild garlic soup at the weekend, Might even have a go at making some Elderflower cordial too.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings!
Hope everyone has a lovely day
Em

Redruby which flight checker did you use as I can`t seem to find one that works:p
His flight has left but it was almost an hour after they boarded so Lord knows how he coped with that:o
I just have to find something else to do with my time.....I feel totally lost. it shows how much your life changes once you have kids...I cannot remember my life before him or what I did with my time. I am going to potter round today and tidy and sort my recipes out and declutter. At the moment still keep crying which is pathetic I know:o sorry for keep going on:o:(
JackieGlasgow sorry about your loss and hugs to you and your sister and family. Hope all goes well later0 -
            morning all!
absolutely pouring down here:mad: typical on our week off! was hoping to get in the garden today. Think it will be a day with my nose stuck in a book!:)
DH got to go to docs this morning for a medication review and hopefully another painkilling injection for his arthritis.
Think I will also give the cooker a good clean as I bought some oven liner yesterday which sshould save time in the future.
