HELP my laptop has gone mad

last niight my laptop decided to go mad
firstly when i click on any of the icons on the desktop it highlights everything from the recycle bin down and then only opens that
its doing all capitals when caps lock isnt on and when i put caps on it is doing lower case
all the full stop buttons and commas etc wont work they all come out with whatever the upper one is
help i dont know what to doooooo
am i going to have to buy a new one????????

Presumably you've tried a reboot?
Does it do it in safe mode (F8 at boot)?
What model? Are you using the built-in keyboard and mouse, or an external one?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
sounds like a case for a system restore from yesterday or the day before

right i just restored it to last week and its still doing it
then did safe mode and its still doing it
its a built in keyboard and mouse

Sounds like a shift key is stuck down to me. Try giving the shift keys a couple of good hard taps, try turning the laptop upside down (when it is off) and see if if anything falls out....
That sort of thing...

I agree with Whitefiver (I remember those!)
Vigourous blowing into the keyboard whilst tapping individual keys might shift whatever is either jaming the keys or shorting the contacts.0
