another Asda post, any Asda staff about?

I have an Asda own brand toaster that decided to stop toasting my toast properly so took it back to my local Asda store for a refund.

Customer service person asked for my receipt so I told her I did not have it.

She said she could do nothing without the receipt and would not give me a refund or replacement toaster even although it was an Asda branded toaster.

I asked a manager who was nearby and he said the same thing that it was a new policy that a receipt was now required.

When was this implemented or am I being fobbed off?

How were they supposed to tell how long ago you bought it without a receipt?

Or do Asda products come with a lifetime warranty?

You need to provide Proof of Purchase, not a receipt. Go back in with a bank statement/credit card statement from a few months ago with a transaction to ASDA and you should be fine...

I assume you mean did I pick it up instore and walk to the customer service desk?

    burn marks and crumbs.

It was paid for cash along with a load of groceries.

Last time I had an Asda brand item it was refunded without the receipt.

I just wondered if their policy had changed or I was being fobbed off.

It was only £7 so it can go in the bin. I prefer my toast made in the grill anyway.

It seems like a lot of retailers are now adopting this refund policy, we had an issue with homebase at the weekend as we didn't have our original receipt but luckily they managed to find our transaction on their computer system and printed the recipt off for us so we were able to exchange the product. When we actually went into the store though they didn't have a copy of their 'new' refund policy in place.........

    Hope you get it sorted!

I think they actually meant how could they tell whether you bought it in their returns policy day, or the first 6 months or within 6 years (each have their own relevance)

I was asking if this was Asda's new policy that you now needed a receipt to get an exchange or refund for a faulty Asda brand product as sometimes when you go to the customer service desk it depends on who is there and the mood that person is in.

So I can get it replaced up to six years then:D?
