entitlement to MA and Sure Start Grant

Just wondering if anyone can offer any advice.

I was made redundant at 8weeks pregnant and have been since claiming IS. I presumed I would keep claiming this until I went back to work however on the benefits website I have seen info on MA.

Now I have worked 26 weeks out of the 66 before my due date so meet that criteris. Does this mean I should claim MA at 29weeks? Also how does this affect my entitlement to the sure start grant? Should I still get it? Or not? Also what happens if I do not have all my payslips? What happens to my IS claim? And do I need to re adjust all mt Housing benefit and council tax benefit? Sorry for all the questions just stumbled accross this and was really confused!

Thank you x

WHy have you been claiming IS?
IF you have worked 26 weeks in the test period then yes you can apply for MA, you will need at least 13 weeks payslips to send in and MATB1 form from your midwife. Your IS claim will then stop also. And once you get your entitlement letter you will need to hand it in to housing benefit so they can adjust your claim.

    Oh now I am bemused!
I like the OP assumed I just got IS through the pregnancy as well.
I qualify for MA, is there any benefit to doing so (it has taken 2 months for IS claim to be sorted, reluctant to start again!) As in does LHA get reduced pro rata and therefore at the end of the day my finances will be the same?
    Many thanks
