Abbey/Santander Cheques

I need to write a cheque but haven't done so in years. I still have a cheque book but it says Abbey. Anyone know if I can still use these now it's Santander?

If I can't can Santander give me a cheque in branch?

Will, obviously, find out tomorrow but thought I'd ask here just now.

Thanks.

I would say no as the brand has change how old is the cheque book and a new cheque book would come in the post i would guess.

If it has the Sort Code / Account number of your existing account on - yes.

No new cheque book but then I've a vague memory of asking them to stop sending them as they were sending loads. Ah well, may have to get a postal order.

No need for a postal order if you have an old cheque book with the correct sort code and account number. They presumably have not changed.

(If you try to go to the abbey.co.uk website, you get directed to santander site. No reason why the branding on the cheque has to match what they are calling themselves now.)

I had a Midland Bank cheque book issued to me after they became HSBC and it still worked fine so I wouldnt have thought it would have made a difference.

My chequebook is about ten years old (I hardly ever use cheques).
It is still “Abbey National” with that umbrella logo.

Nevertheless, about four weeks ago I issued a cheque and it went through without a hitch.
(Of course, neither account number nor sorting code has ever changed.)

The only potential problem is if the payee doesn't know that the cheque is still valid. Santander will very happily process it.
