Eco 7 - What is it & Should I be on it?
Options
Hi There
I moved into my present property nearly 3yrs ago after having spent 7yrs living abroad. When I moved in the old owner called up the utilities suppliers, gave them the meter readings and then handed the phone over to me to inform them of my details.
My electricity is with EDF and I'm on a Econ 7 tariff where it's split into night and day and then it's also unit split meaning I pay 2 different tariffs for first and next units.
Anyway, my monthly DD is 70pounds which seems very high. I live with my DH and DS. We use gas for our heating and water. We do 3 loads of washing/drying per week. 1 TV, 1 computer, no washing machine, 1 fridge/freezer combo.
My questions are 1) what is Eco 7 and 2) should I be on it?
When I first moved in I just gave my details to the supplier and have been with them since. I have no idea why I'm on the tariff that I'm on and whether it's the most suitable for my usage. I've never signed a contract with them (they said it was OK as I had already supplied my details over the phone).
If I am on the wrong tariff can I ask for compensation? Also, how do you go about choosing the tariff that you should be on?
Sorry for all the questions, I moved abroad when I was 16 and had no idea of how everything works and the system in the country I lived in for 7yrs is completely different to the one here so basically I'm clueless
Thanks for your help.
