New patio doors

Hi everyone

I'm out of the country working away at the moment, the estate agent managing my house are wanting me to fork out £850 for new double glass patio doors with frame because they say the runners on the bottom of the present ones have apparently broke.

I dunno where I'm gonna get the money from, I guess the agent thinks it's wear and tear and it should be replaced by me.

Any thoughts on this, or ideas on the cost, does it seem accurate?

hope to hear from you, thanks for reading
regards
Alex

Depending how old the doors are, and the system used. It can be possible to only replace the runners (I'm presuming it is the rollers on the bottom of the doors that have gone). I've done this a few times before with no problems (if you can get the right runners).

Sourcing the correct parts will be the hardest thing. If you can, it will work out a LOT cheaper than new doors.

I have been quoted very similar to replace my door. Hope this helps.

If you know where the doors were supplied from, I'd start there. They would be best placed to know the system used, and be in a position to offer a replacement part.

This makes it so much harder. There are so many different systems out there!

A local glaziers may be able to help. This could be a longshot, but they may be able to recognise the system used. Once you know the system, it will be a matter of ringing around getting the relevent parts. Runners aren't too difficult to fit.
