Paid for a collection item via paypal but doesn't want it

I recently sold an old computer monitor on ebay.

Buyer contacted to say that they don't want it - apparently 2 year old bid for it- he has paid via paypal and says he wants me to put it in the bin.

What to do now?

It went for 99p, it was part of my items I would previously have freecycled.

Ring the Sun newspaper and tell them about the gifted child that can find, bid, and pay for an item on ebay.

OP, I'm asuming that you're enquiring about what to do to make sure there's no come back from the buyer, i.e. neg feedback and NPS hit for not sending it (even though it was collection only).

I'm not an expert so I hope someone else more experienced can tell you for sure, but I think either refund or a mutual cancellation then you're covered.

    HTH

Edited to add - my 2 year old will try and 'do work' on my laptop if left unattended even for a nano second, but this just involves pressing as many keys as she can. I really do doubt that she could bid and then log on to my paypal account to pay. I really don't know why people make up such blatent lies - unless they do have the brightest 2 year old ever!!

I think when the OP wrote "Buyer contacted to say that they don't want it - apparently 2 year old bid for it- he has paid via paypal and says he wants me to put it in the bin." he/she meant the Buyer paid for it.
The buyer is still the subject of the sentence otherwise the kid would have made the call/wrote the email saying he doesn't want it ("... and please don't tell my dad..!!!")... :rotfl: :rotfl:

:rotfl:Silly me, that'll teach me to read too fast! Maybe it's my abilities I should be doubting, not my 2 year olds!!

I can believe a 2 year old could bid on something that you had on an open page, you only need to click the mouse a couple of times.

I'm inclined to believe the buyer, he has paid for it after all, so it wasn't like he was trying to not pay.

I think his logic is, I don't want a non paying bidder against me, it's only 99p after all, but I don't want the item and therefore I'll pay for it but tell the seller to bin it (which he has done.)

I was more concerned about how to protect myself from neg feedback, dsrs, item not received etc.

This person is too dozy to carry out a mutual properly so I would do a NPB and block them from further bidding on your auctions.

Oops sorry - didn't read the posts properly. Disregard this!

Take the 99p and do a runner to somewhere warm & sunny.

Are they asking for the 99p back?

It will have only cost you a few p in charges, Personally i would just ignore it & move on.
    Block that bidder.
