    The company that you could be referring to is Equinity - I've had to deal with them on behalf of a friend of mine who inherited some Santander Shares

    They will at least tell you how much it costs to sell shares in certificated form. Seem to remember that foreign shares are more expensive to sell than UK ones. Equiniti is the registrar and you can sell through them too.
