A week in Egypt!

Hi all,
my DD1 (18) is going on her first mates holiday abroad in July and they've settled on Egypt and have looked at prices etc.
They want to go on the 11th July for a week all inclusive (as they won't be leaving the complex).
Her friend has been looking for deals and says it's going to be about £500 or so but I think that's quite a lot - do you think it can be found any cheaper?
Many thanks in advance
Lisa

It really depends where they are flying from (Gatwick is generally cheaper than say Glasgow) and which hotel.
If they are looking at a 3* hotel I can see why you think it might be 'quite a lot' but if it's a 5* spa type resort with half a dozen restaurants, several of which are a-la-carte, 24 hour food and drink, free water sports etc etc, then you're probably wrong.
Get them to check the hotel reviews on Tripadvisor BEFORE they book, some 'cheap' all-inclusives may not turn out to be so cheap if the food is inedible and they have to leave the complex to eat.0 -
I hope they like the heat!0

definitely check where they are going, generally speakng in egypt a hotel is a star below (by our standards) than is advertised and some have pretty bad food reviews. having said that the one i go to gets bad write ups and i think the food is great
as inca says i hope they like the heat u are expecting SERIOUSLY high temps in august and they should check this especially if any of them are fair - even sitting under the umbrella can be unbearable at that time of year
£500 for a week all inclusive in july doesnt sound that expensive to me as its pretty near peak. hope they enjoy themselvesWhen you know better you do better0 -
if they aren't planning on leaving the resort, why not choose the canaries or spain for a more reaosnably priced holiday that's hot but not unbearable

£500 sounds expensive, but depends what it includes (& what of that she'll use!)
Personally I wouldn't go all the way to Egypt to sit in a resort hotel & not see anything of the country ...0 -

July/August in Egypt isn't peak time ...it is their "off season" because it can be so hot that most people find it unbearable ....friend of mine once went in August (thought he had found a bargain) but couldn't step outside the air conditioned hotel after about 9am because it was 110F !0 -
It will be waaaaaaay too hot for them.
Why not go somewhere more suitable interms of heat, food etc? Spain.0 -
sorry tony i wasnt being clear i meant peak time as in other places not peak time for egypt. for sure if they went at egypts peak time £500 would be cheap lol
as everyone says there is a reason its so cheap in july/august and as tony says that reason is u wont be able to move outside. we are talking 40plus!!!When you know better you do better0 -
