    Hi!!
I have exactly the same thing with Barclays. I started my DMP in december. Within weeks they had declined my offer then defaulted the account. They told me exactly the same as you that their recovery team would contact me in due course and have stopped interest and charges. I'm still waiting!! On the other hand, they refused my offer also for my overdraft, this has been passed on to debt managers ltd. I have had no official acceptance from them but have accepted two payments from me so fingers crossed they have accepted the dmp. Try not to worry about it too much, just keep making the payments and keep the CCCS informed if they do transer to a DCA, they will then transfer the payments to them. Good luck xx

Thank you for the insight. Its great to hear from someone that is going through the same process with Barclays. I have informed CCCS and they have told me that although the have refused the offer they will continue to make payments as outlined in the proposal.

A Big Thank you to all who have eased my worry and provided me with advice.

We have a debt with barclays (overdraft) and we had exactly the same experience as you. The debt was passed to their inhouse collections department, although you wouldn't know that by looking at the letter! The inhouse collectors will then try to contact you day and night and if you speak to them (don't!) they will try to make you pay more than CCCS have offered them. Just ignore them or send them the telephone harassment letter if this happens to you, eventually they will accept your payments and stop bothering you.

Do make sure that if you have extra funds later on, let CCCS know and they will increase your payments to ALL of your creditors on a pro-rata basis. If you are seen to be favouring one creditor over another, you may find that the others will start putting interest and charges back onto your account. Don't be tempted to tell barclays anything about your extra income, they will try to wrangle the lot out of you!

ps..link to telephone harassment letter, for future reference, in case you need it...which you probably will :D

    Hi barbiedoll

Thanks for your slant on Barclays and the advice on the additional income. In the early days I requested my telephone number be removed from all records and to be fair to Barclays I have not had any telephone calls they correspond in writing. However this may change once the DCA are involved this is what worries me as I do not want my children knowing what is going on. I hate the phone calls. What is the name of the inhouse company?

    Thank you once again.

    Regards

    Hi

I am with Barclays I have been on a dmp with CCCS they rejected my offer and then transferred it to their inhouse collectors. I have never heard anything from them and they have been happily accepting my payments and most importantly are not charging interest. I am hoping that this will carry on. So please do not worry it is just standard procedure.

    Hope this helps

Thanks for your input. Could you tell me when you started your DMP and is it in relation to a loan or overdraft. Has the inhouse company got a name. As I have heard barclays use a company called Mercers who apparently are ruthless, however this has not be the case in your instance.

Thank you very much for sharing your story with me i feel more confident and less worried after reading your post.

    Hi

I think mercers tend to be the inhouse collectors from Barclaycard who I have got a debt with but it is still with barclaycard themselves and again no problems up to yet.

I think the inhouse collectors for barclays still comes under the same name as I have not actually received any documentation from them I am not sure.

Try not to worry I know its easier said than done I am 2 years into mine and have about 5 years left although hoping to reduce this which I have already done it was originally going to take 10 years.
Who are some of your other creditors if they are the same as mine I will give you feedback on how they have been with me.

I have both a loan and overdraft with Barclays.

    Hope this helps

Hopefull1 i have heard some horrors about Mercers harrassing people by phone for money. I hope this does not happen to me I hope mine goes as smooth as yours.

    My other Creditors are

    Northern Rock
Citi Cards (these are my worry as they are adding horrendous interest charges)
    Barclaycard

Any help or advice on these creditors is much appreciated.

Hi Mikon. The collections people that barclays are using with our debt is "Credit Solutions" based in Purley in Surrey. Someone at CCCS told me that they are inhouse so I assume that is correct. We also received a postcard from a company called "Power2Collect" (based at the same address) stating that an agent would be calling at our house to arrange collection of the debt, because we had " so far ignored all attempts to contact you". Thanks to the good folk on here, I knew that this was nothing to be worried about and I just sent a letter revoking their right to come anywhere near my property. The latest communication is a form that we have to sign, giving CCCS authority to speak to them on our behalf, regarding our debt. At no time did we speak to them and although my OH freaked out a bit at the letters, and especially the postcard, they haven't given us any more hassle (so far ;)) the interest and charges have stopped, as have the phone calls.

Are your kids "grown-up", i.e old enough to hear about your debt and how you're dealing with it? My son is 12 and we spoke to him about it, because of the phone calls. I just wanted him to know the consequences of living beyond our means and as our DMP affects him as much as us, I've managed to turn him into a real MSE now! He saves for things that he wants, he knows to check the balance on his phone and he doesn't hassle us for the latest game/gadget/toy as he knows we can't afford it at the moment. I don't think we have anything to hide from him, I want him to know that our actions have caused our current difficulties and I want him to learn from our mistakes. I don't care if he tells the kids at school, I'm not ashamed of admitting that we're in debt, but I am proud that we're dealing with it :T

ps. we have a BIG debt (loan) with Northern Rock, they too have been fine with the DMP, again, we had to sign a form giving CCCS authority but we have had no hassle from them so far either.

Thanks for the info on Barclays. The thought of people coming to my house absolutely scares me stiff. My children are 14 & 9 they are not aware of our situation. I hope Northern Rock accept.

Do you have a copy of the letter you sent the company uninviting them to your house. Also I thought when I signed up with CCCS you signed paperwork to give them the power to act on your behalf. Are you saying Barclays sent you a letter asking you to sign authority over to CCCS?

    Thanks

    Hi

I have barclaycard and they have been fine up to yet hopefully this will continue. Do you own your own house? How long is your dmp due to last?
