Currys and manfacture warranty

They have to quantify their findings with a reason why any damage is deemed as customer induced or repair or replace.
Legally they don't need to do this, as the onus is not on them.
If what the OP is saying is true, it seems more likely that they haven't even looked at it. They are within their rights to return the unit to the OP without looking at it, and make him excercise his rights under SoGA.0 -

Warranties are insurance underwritten policies as opposed to a manufacturers guarantee that is underwritten by the manufacturer (or that is what they should be). So check the wording of the warranty.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -
Thank you all for yr advice. To date currys have rang yesterday to say they have inspected the unit and found damage,Therefore will be returning the laptop. However they can not give me an explanation of how the laptop is damaged,iv asked for this info and have been waiting a day now! should i accept the laptop back if a courier delivers it or shall i not sign for it!! if i accept it then feel more further away to resolving this.
I guess this is standard currys policy to make life as difficult as possible in the hope that a large percentage of people just go away!0 -
In this case, you should accept the laptop back and not refuse it. I would arrange an independent engineer to inspect the unit and produce a report.
If the report states that there is an inherent fault, go back to Curry's. If the report states the item is damaged, you will have to pay for a repair.0 -
you need and independent engineers report in writing and post that to currys customer service it will go to the correspondence team and they will process the claim i work on customer service in a store in dorset and we do everything in our power to make sure the customer leaves happy everytime unfortunatley its not possible evertime because you cant make everyone happy you dont realise how hard it is working in customer service esspecially when your having ago at the wrong people and making demonstrations in the shop we are not to blame in the shops but joe public never see that0

Now 20% cooler0 -
You need to communicate through writing, I had a similar problem with my laptop however it was 15 months old. I had to send a few letters and got trading standards involved, I eventually got a replacement; which ironically was faulty and ended up getting a full refund.0
