Prescriptions in Gibraltar/Spain

My oh has a medical problem which means he has to use catheters to pass water, they can't be bent as they won't work and they're quite long. We're going abroad for a 2 week stay in August and are hoping that if he takes his prescription we will be able to get it filled whilst there as packing 2 weeks supply of these things will take up an awful lot of suitcase space!
Does anyone know if this is possible? Thanks

If a pharmacy is prepared to fill the prescription you'll, almost certainly, have to pay the cost price for the items. To understand what that would be and to confirm that it will be possible to fill the prescription it'd be worth speaking directly to a pharmacist locally.
A quick google throws up this list for Gib:

Thanks Mands, we do have friends there so I guess it's time to talk to them and see what they can find out. That'll please him, he's a very private person.0

As it's a necessity he can't take a risk with I'd be taking a bigger suitcase - I can't imagine they would weigh that much, it's weight you get done for, not bulk when flying.;)
Just means you've extra room on the way back for some lovely lace from the shops in Gibraltar (btw they don't all speak English, many of the shop workers travel over from Spain to work)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

So about 2 boxes of these would be required (50), personally I would take them out of the boxes and roll them in a couple of towels. They are light and I dont think they would take up that much room, you really dont want to be worrying about this on holiday. Have fun!!2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Thanks Judy, we'll try that, I was just worried about 'kinking' if we had to bend them to fit. We picked up a prescription the other day and it was four boxes (in a huge cardboard box) and I just looked at them in the boot of the car and thought " Oh, ****!") It's our daughter's wedding so we certainly don't want to be worried about this at all.0 -
Are they actually prescription items at all? They sound like the sort of thing you should be able to buy over the counter0
-
I don't know dzug1, as my oh is disabled and receives benefits we receive free prescriptions so they're always on prescription, never actually bought them.0

Why not phone the Gibraltar Primary Care Centre & see if they can help you? Of course if there is an emergency, he will be able to get help at St Bernard's Hospital or at the primary care centre anyway

You should be able to take a few days supply of the catheters in thier boxes (thus well protected) on the plane as hand luggage, and have any more hand loaded onto the plane as essential medical supplies - but you'll prob need a drs letter (depends on the airline). Explain to the airline that you are not able to check them in in a suitcase due to possible damage etc
