What makes me sad

just been sitting and thinking about this for the last 20 mins...also spent 10 20 mins or so reading on the loans and creditcard boards
You can allways tell sometimes when people are pre lightbulb and in so much debt they are trying to take out a big longterm loan. So wish i could force them across to this board and give em examples of what Most of the time will happen
How many of the people here decided OH i will take out a bigger loan to pay off my store card, credit card, etc... then after you have paid it off use the credit card once thinking its ok i will just pay it off on payday.
Payday comes you pay the min amount. then a few months later the card is maxed again.. then realy in debt having to pay the storecards you could not afford to pay the first time around and then a loan on top
Then see all the TV adverts that say Oh we can pay off all your creditcards and make it 1 easy payment etc etc.. you end up doing that again at a shocking rate of intrest..
And well most people on this board know the rest

Very true, Kevin. I worked from home a couple of weeks ago and had the TV on as background noise - was amazed how many debt-consolidation loan adverts were on daytime TV (at least one in every advert break - more often several each time!! ).
But you can't force people to jump onto this board and see the light - we can only hope they find us and join us...;)

piglet.. i'm normally home when daytime tv is on (crappy shifts). the only adverts that seem to be on itv2 are eather loans for people with bad credit, IVA adverts, loans, oh and no win no fee.
i understand that everyone is out to make few quid. hell that's the only reason most of us go to work for.
But i hate people taking advantage of others0 -
Absolutely!!!

I find it interesting that the loan companies advertise in the daytime. It makes me think that they are targetting non-working people who are of course those least likely to be able to afford loans.0

I'm sure that is exactly what they are doing. Those with no jobs, mums with small kids who don't (can't) go out to work, retired people...
It stinks, and it makes me mad that well-known people (who "we" trust!) put their faces/voices to these ads - I know we all have to earn a living but these people don't need to resort to this to make their cash, and people who are not as savvy as us MSEs will probably believe that these ads are a good idea because folks they think they can trust are fronting them...!

I do have a tendency to get expressive at this time of the night...especially when I think of Carol Vorderman and friends encouraging us to take out extravagant loans...("oh, she's so good at maths, it must be a great deal"...!!).
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(There I go again!!)

The British public now collectively owe a massive £1,100,000,000,000...
well at least this debt isn't all mine personally ... just feels like it0
