Parking in Edinburgh

I'm staying for a few days at my daughter's flat in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh and will be arriving by car. She has a parking permit for her car, but that's non-transferable.
Can anyone recommend how I can legally and safely park my car while I'm there? I'm planning to do most of my local travel by bus and train so am happy to leave it some distance away if it's in a safe location.
Thanks for your help.

There are quite a few park and ride facilities on the outskirts of Edinburgh close to either Bus or Train facilities. It would really depend on what end you are coming into Edinburgh from.
Ingliston park and ride is close to the Airport on the West side of the city and you would get a bus straight to Haymarket from there. I would imagine its secure enough to leave your car there but cant vouch for sure as I have never done this myself!0 -

Try that map, if you're near haymarket you arn't too far away by foot to the edge of the controlled area, or if you buy day tickets for the bus its even easier.
The map is a bit hard to read but Haymarket station is at the meeting point of the 1, N5 and S4 areas. I'd be comfortable leaving my car out near roseburn/murrayfield (assuming no rugby matches) but would be a bit more wary of leaving it in the gorgie/dalry area.
Keep in mind that they have been putting in tram works for a while there so its anyones guess what the road layouts will be, I try and avoid going through that part of town by car if at all possible.0
