I'm sorry to hear of your situation, Touchdown, and I'm sympathetic but you really do need to stop blaming everyone else and thinking everything is unfair.

There must be something else in your credit file or your history or your payslip or whatever else they search that's causing the rejection. I'm currently getting a mortgage with the Halifax (I've had the formal offer) and I have a credit card that is on a repayment plan (and many defaults from 2006 when I messed it up) and a stupid Vodafone blemish in January this year that cost me my ITL mortgage at 1% lower than I'm having to take capped at 5.99 for 2 years! (Tracker Capped product).

I passed the Halifax on level B. What did you pass on? Did you enquire? Did you tell them about your default? All that meant was I had to have 15% deposit rather than 10%.

All is not lost, also. There are many firms that will still lend to you (go through Experian is my advice so they know what history you have). You may pay a higher rate for a short time but you could get a better deal in a few years.

As for saying "I've got kids therefore I go overdrawn..." Yes, me too, 4 of them in fact with a missus out of work and I'm on 30k not 51K. I go overdrawn occasionally, yes (to the other poster, they only default you if you don't pay it back within 3 months) but it's not a necessity.

Why don't you head over to the Debtfree board and post your Statement of Affairs. Then you can get real help. Do you have Sky? Do you have 2 cars? Do you go out? Do you buy takeaways. Since reading the Old Style board my fiancee and I have cut our bills in half.

All is not lost, don't give up, stop blaming others and seek help from thousands of people just waiting to help you - right here! :money:
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

  • I also passed on level B, told them about the default and have 15% deposit. I just don't understand why I was turned down, I wish they would give more details. No sky (anymore), one car, rarely go out anymore, hardly ever have take aways.

I'm not balming anybody else, just feeling a bit sorry for myself.

Maybe this is partly why you were turned down? You say you had one default on £570, I'm sure it is only one. But if you don't have much credit to pay on time, it can look bad if you only have a couple of things and one defaulted
