I think this year I am going to make it with the kids by buying a large bar of chocolate, melting it down and then pouring it into a mould (ie a bread loaf tin, pour choc on top of greaseproof paper in it) and then decorate with sweets or ice the word dad etc, then let it cool in fridge. A personalised chocolate bar! :j

got two fathers day cards from home bargains yesterday for 39p each , price marked at 3.50

Cards have items with them also, one has a medallion saying best dad, one had an air freshener , one had a flashing keyring, and one had a built in radio.

    Bargain!
Thanks Kazzie. Unfortunately we don't have a Home Bargains here but hopefully someone might find it useful.:T

In martins e-mail this week there is a free card from hephalump worth £3.48. I couldn't find any fathers day cards that I liked so I opted for a birthday card for my mum which is on fathers day aswell. Have a peek if your strapped for cash. A card is always better than nothing!! :)

we stuck photos onto the shiny side of a cd, and wrote " Daddy - you are the reflection of all the good in me" On the other side they decorated them with cd markers from poundland and stickers :p

You bunch of cheap (expletive deleted), after all he's done for you, all the expense stress and tears, and this is all he gets, a 60p card and 5 mins of your time on fake sentiment. If that's all he gets he will show real appreciation, but that's fake too.

Its not about what it costs surely, but about the feeling behind it.
This sight is about saving money and i'd rather have a gift that cost nothing as long as it is given with love.
Perhaps morepeople realise these days that all the commercialism of MUms and dads days means nowt

Well if you really are that cheap, try "I thought about getting you a gold watch then I decided not to, but it's the thought that counts". See how well that goes down.
You have a point about commercialisation , but to go too far the other way is false economy, it's still going to cost you!
