Hi guys,I was out opening the growhouse this morning when my dog chased something, got him indoors and discovered it was 2 wee bluetit fledglings from the birdbox on our garage, basicaly one looked slightly older than the other, the younger of the two has been hopping around the garden(my dog is safely indoors),mummy bird seems to be visiting frequently, but the other bird has hopped through a hole in the fence and is now in the park next door, inside a massive big bush,(I think, cant see it now)but its well sheltered...im a bit concerned that they have been seperated(basicaly by a 6 foot fence)will mum bird still be able to find and look after both?
and where will they sleep tonight? they cant fly,so dunno how they would get back into birdbox,?

The general advice from BBC's Springwatch is to leave them alone. For a couple of days after they've fledged, you can see them sitting on the ground or generally hopping about getting their wings ready for flight. I've got a young blackbird who sits immobile for ages and ages in the middle of my lawn, before hopping under the hedge.

The fledgling in the bush sounds to be safe. There will be plenty of insects to discover. The parents will be nearby and are able to find their young by their distinctive call.

    Hope they are alright!

Thanks for the reassurance,The younger one has just hopped through too now,aw well at least they are both on the same side of the fence, tho i think about 30feet apart in different bushes, the wee one will be getting better sheltered in the bushes too,cos we just had a sudden downpour.
At least i can let the dog out again(tho i will check first that they havent hopped back over)

Aww bless them! Nice of you to be vigilant re: your doggy, could have been a sad mishap otherwise  Leave them be and just try to remember before you let doggy outside 'do a quick check of garden first'!
