Cheap dog food!

  • Another decent quality cheap dog food is Wagg - £8.98 for 17kg and available at Tesco. Our guys are pretty unforgiving when it comes to food - sensitive stomachs, fussy eaters etc but they have been on this for 4 months now and are doing really well. At the moment there is an offer on - 20kg for the price of 17kg - so you can get a 20kg bag for £8.98 at Tesco. The only problem is lifting it into the trolley! :rotfl:

  • can i also add a very cheap alternative! my dog is extremly hyper dog whom was on meat n biscuits anyway i had a dog therapist see him and she said that most complete biscuits like pedigree n eukaneba (sp) bakers etc she said they were really high in protein and colourings (green biscuits!!!!!!)
so she recommend james wellbeloved great at jsut £30 a sack!!!! but she also said this is the best bit!!!!!!!
BUY TH EVERY CHEAP COMPLETE BISCUIT IT IS THE SAME AS THE OTHER BEFORE THEY ADD ALL THE CR AP TO IT AND ITS ONLY A FEW QUID!!!! SO

    Any ideas for cats?
  • I keep my dogs bowl on the side in the kitchen and throw scraps into it (only homemade cooking, not rubbish) Then add the dog food. This often bulks out her food with stuff that would have gone in the bin. I like the sound of this greyhound food and will defo look out for it.

Not sure this is really this forum for this but hohum :)

Some smaller pet shops sell "un branded cans" so you get 12 cans for somethign like £2-3. Ok they could be felix, whiskas, gravy, jelly etc etc BUT they are a lot cheaper. I buy them for my cats as a treat as they are usually on dried food.

As for the pooch then we're working our way through a variety of foods that are not too high in protein as she gets hyper very easily. If your dog has a tendency towards being hyperactive think about going for a lower protein food or add some veg to their meals and cut down on the complete food.

    Thanks for that,

I've just been to our local animal feed place to look for the greyhound stuff, they didn't have that but had a "hound" one which is gluten free (I need that) and that only cost £5.99 for a sack.

All these ideas are great but our animals are all on special diets so not sure if I should change. We've a dog with colitus, a cat who is diabetic and another cat with kidney problems. Maybe I'll be luckier with my animals next time round not that i'd wish these three away (not sure my bank manager would agree!).

I get this for my dog, costs me £10 for 2 x 15kg sacks (Direct from person who supplies local shops) and he thrives on it. He has an iffy tummy but it doesn't upset it in the slightest, better than he ever has been ! Of course we had the eeeek moment the first week or so when changing, but not looked back since. Costs me under £5 a month to feed my dog now !
One day I might be more organised...........
