i like to do a potatoe salad with a vinagrette dressing also have realy good recipe for coronation chicken it you want it i will post both, very easy using a ready cooked chick if u r not confident cooking your own and not too expensive, if you can serve hot bread rolls as these always go down well, either make yr own dough in breadmaker then bake when needed or most supermarkets sell part-baked rolls you can just pop in the oven for 10 mins, lovely with butter, pate, cheese ect and always irresistable. brown sugar meringues make a great sweet, 2oz soft brown sugar for each egg white, beat white till stiff then beat in sugar, bake on non stick parchment for 2is hrs at 90c, store in airtight tin or bags for up to a week, serve with whipped or clotted cream:beer:Member 1145 Sealed Pot Challenge No4

Swedish sandwich cake
Nice bread, sliced thinly. If you want to be really authentic and advanced, go to your local Ikea and buy some of their frozen round bread. It's round and thin and there are 4 to a pack, I think. Often in Swedish homes they just use ordinary bread, but the round bread is what you'll get in restaurants or when buying these.

prawns
lettuce
tomato
hardboiled eggs
anything else you like in sandwiches, practically anything! Maybe Swedish meatballs, they're often used too.
If you are using round bread - let it defrost (d'oh) and then start on the creation of your sandwich cake. On top of the first round, start adding your fillings. The swedes use tons of good mayo etc, I'm surprised they haven't all had a heart attack by now. Make sure it's moist with that mayo. Start adding sandwich fillings - so lay out one flavour of fillling, say ham, add lettuce or why and make sure the filling is plentiful. On top of this goes the next round of bread, with another layer of filling, tomatoes are usually cut quite thick, this is not dainty sandwiches at all. In go the eggs perhaps this time, with perhaps more lettuce. On goes the next round of bread, with more mayo and prawns, lettuce, cucumber maybe. On goes the 4th round of bread, with mayo all over the top (or something moistly equivalent if you want to skip the mayo) and halved meatballs maybe. It looks like an iced cake. It's left for at least several hours so the bread gets soaked with the filling medium.
It's served by cutting it into slices or pieces, and it's tremendously filling and it goes surprisingly far.
If you haven't got round bread, use nice sliced up bread. Find a rectangular or square dish, make it in the dish on the same principles, but make it the day before and leave it in the dish overnight, without having done the top. Next day empty it out onto a platter, like getting a sponge out of a baking tin, and then decorate the top.0 -

Hey Lillibet, I've always done my plaits with tuna, onions, breadcrumbs and egg to bind and they have always gone down a treat - but yours sounds lovely, think I'll try that one next!
And I recently went to a dinner party at my mates where we all had to bring a nibble for the starters - I did cheese and pineapple on one set of sticks and halved cherry toms, with a chunk of mozarella and a couple of basil leaves on the other set of cocktail sticks - I called them Posh and Chav sticks and they went down a stormComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Make up some savoury rice (batchelors or supermarkets own) let it cool then finely chop an onion add it to the rice with a tin of tuna and a dollop of mayo or salad cream and stir.. very easy and quick and tasty too I always put it on my buffets and people always comment.0
