No faster payment with Halifax?

Hi,
I've just tried to make a faster payment with Halifax today (7 June 2010). Tried two different Halifax current accounts. But it did not work in either case. Next possible payment day is tomorrow 8 June 2010.

Wondering whether other people have the same problem?

It sems to be a bit hit and miss with all the LLoyds TSB group in my experience.
  • Also, Alliance & Leicester can receive faster payments but still take 3 days to send!

Similarly, I made a faster payment to Halifax from HSBC this morning and it hasn't showed up yet - HSBC's confirmation message said that "the receiving bank can't guarantee when the payment will be credited", which is pretty unhelpful when the payment has already been made.

Same, I didn't see the message though. Glad it's not just my account. It's a bit annoying as well. Good thing I paid my rent yesterday (into Halifax), otherwise it could have sent me overdrawn!

I've got the same problem this morning. I've tried 3 different accounts (both mine and OHs) and none of them are able to make faster payments. I dont need the money in the other account into thursday so I'll leave it until tomorrow and try again.

If anyone hears more remember to post and let the rest of us know :)

I use Lloyds FP service daily (in and out), never experienced a single problem yet.

A&L inbound/outbound FP's are immediate, they are limited to £250, anything over will go via BACS.

Just spoken to Bank of Scotland call centre and they've confirmed that they've had a problem with faster payments since Friday afternoon. No estimate on when it will be resolved.

I've asked whether they will do a chaps transfer instead for free but I'm still waiting on a reply on that.

I've just transferred money from Halifax to Nationwide. By the time I logged out of my halifax account and immediately logged into my Nationwide account the money had been credited.
