Hi,
Thinking of taking my girlfriend to blackpool in october time to see the illuminations as she has never been.
Will probably drive up there but can anyone advise on a decent hotel?
I dont want a crap place to stay and dont mind a reasonable price for a decent stay with breakfast.
Any help??
cheers

there is certainly plenty of them, Big bluehouse perhaps, not cheap but pretty goodwizard3891 wrote:I dont want a crap place to stay0 -
I stayed at the Carousel Hotel back in June and it was excellent - we're staying again next week and I'll let you know how it turns out...highly recommended by me though. But I think the Big Blue is meant to be the best, but it's extremely expensive (and right by the pleasure beach)0

I'm taking my family to Blackpool in October too!
We have gone for self catering as we are fussy eaters. I used Trip Advisor web site to check out accomodation. For B&B they had loads of recommendations.
I like Trip Advisor as you get lots of reviews and I have always agreed with the majority view when I've checked out a place I've stayed.
Hope you find somewhere good.0 -
A couple of years back we stayed here http://www.choice-hotels.co.uk/claremont/index.php
This hotel allows children but their other one called The Viking on the south Shore I beleive is just adults.
Very nice hotel and very nice food (we enjoyed it). They also have entertainment on an evening.
We arealso going in October but this time we are staying in a flat Self Catering.0 -
I moved away from Blackpool 5 years ago and still visit more than twice a fortnight for family so from an insider's point of view( ie working in places or having friends who've worked in places) I can definatly say be carefull! The Viking hotel has a terrible reputation ie used condoms found under mattresses etc. All the locals do like the Claremont hotel and I believe it has just been done up revently. Most ppl I know use this place for family functions. If you want a guarenteed nice stay I reccomend also the Travel Inn at the Red Lion(Bispham). It is five mins from Bispham end of lights(the best bit) and 15-20mins walk to the prom. My family house is round the corner and I used to walk up 'Red Bank Road' every day. Bispham Village(3mins walk) has all the facilities ie Tesco or Banks, no road traffic at hotel unlike some TI's. A Very nice Italian on Red Bank Road called La Piazza which is also a locals little secret. Guarenteed good food and an excellent atmosphere. V Romantic too - you'll look good. For a drink in evening there is the Old England pub in Bispham Village or the Red Lion at the Travel Inn. Old E has a younger louder feel and the Red Lion is more your local Beefeater but does have some pool tables!
Hope this helps! Book early!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*

At last resort there is a Hilton bang on the seafront looks the most impressive out of them all but can be fairly pricey! Be carefull at some, there's been a lot of food scares. A lot of relatives have worked at the Norbreck Hotel nr Bipham and they wouldnt stay there even if it was free! Cockroaches, mould etc etc!Saving needed to emigrate to Oz*September 2015*
