Hey techies :D

At a friend's house and they've got a new Dimension 5100 with 15" screen. Aside from the fact I'm straining to see anything (my home PC is a whopping 19" :D) I notice the resolution won't go higher than 1024 x 768

For some reason when I go to Display Properties > Settings, it has only two options - "More - 1024 x 768" or "Less - 800 x 600".

This screen can cope with a higher resolution because everything is so big. It's also v.bright and it's straining my eyes :( but that isn't such a problem for the Crabster :rotfl:

Cheers  :D

The specs of that monitor are here
    Features & Benefits

Monitor size and type : 15" (38.1cm) active matrix TFT
    Resolution : 1024 x 768 (XGA)
    Response time / Brightness / Contrast Ratio : 16ms / 250cd/m2 / 450:1
    Dimensions h x w x d : 337 x 340 x 133 mm
    Weight : 2.5 kg
    Inputs : Analogue
Audio capability : Optional AS501PA soundbar
VESA mounting compatible / Security slot : Yes (100mm) / Yes

It has a maximum resolution of 1024x768 so that will be why the resolution will only go that high. 1024x768 is high enough on a 15" any higher and things will look too small.

Most 15" 4:3 TFTs are 1024x768 maximum and it's the native res of those anyway so it'll look best on that.

Everything just seems big because you are used to a 19 that will run at 1600X1200. I use a 15" 4:3 TFT and it's fine for me.
