Very slow computer

My dad has asked me to have a look at his computer as it's running really slowly.
I have run CCleaner, Malware bytes, Startuplite and Hijack this (logs on next post).
The machine does only have 256mb RAM so one option clearly is to increase this.
As an example, I was trying to remove some installed programs and went into add/remove programs on the control panel and after 20 minutes of waiting for the list of installed programs to be populated I gave up and closed the program
So would someone be so kind as to look at the logs below please and also any advice how I would go about identifying what type of ram is in the machine and what I need to replace it with would be great thanks

More ram will help, but fewer startup processes would achieve the same result at no cost, similar advice to your previous thread, follow this
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2436849
This is the process list from a fully working XP SP3 (avast AV, windows firewall) system that uses less than 100MB ram, which leaves plenty of room for applications in a 256MB system without any swapping - compare it with yours (apart from smax4pnp.exe, and wuauclt.exe, most of the extras are superfluous). All those plugins, toolbars, extensions, context menus, beginning with O2, O3, O8, O9, O16,O18 don't help, apart from the 2 java ones, the rest aren't essential.

Still got loads of startup (39) apps, and plug-ins running which will be knocking up the commit charge.
Use autoruns (if it causes any problems, you can put the tick back in to re-enable, backup with disk imaging software if you want to be safe) to disable these startup items, and maybe consider avast and windows firewall instead of virgin pcguard, if you want to keep pcguard, leave them as is.
pcguard, jqs, perfectdisk, pnkbstra and b, seaport, servicepoint, virginmediahub, dmxlauncher, hkcmd, igfxpers, logmein, ulead photo, dsagent, skype, ctfmon, googleupdaters
and O2, O3, O8, O9, O16,O18!!
