My GF and I went to Hawaii in Sept for 3 weeks and loved it. Plenty to see and do while you are there. Anything you want to know ? feel free to ask.....:j
Sorry..had to chuckle there when someone thought you could fly direct from the UK to Hawaii...lol :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Took us 3 flights....Glasgow to Heathrow, Heathrow to LA....LA to Hawaii baby !!!!!
Well worth it though. :T:T:T:T
may i suggest you have another look at my previous post and re-read it correctly?:p
i did not say you can fly direct, you will see i actually said virgin are on about possibly flying directly to hawaii when they get the new 787 dreamliners.
i have been myself and flew from las-hnl and then hnl-sfo so i am well aware you cannot fly directly.;)0 -
I wasn't talking about you...See previous posts before yours. So I wouldn't dive in thinking i'd misread your dreamliner post.johnnyroper wrote: »may i suggest you have another look at my previous post and re-read it correctly?:p

Murph - We done 12 night cruise (8 around the islands & 4 sailing to Mexico) in 2005.
I loved it, most beautifull place spectacular landscape. BUT I would not recommend cruise. Too much to see and you are stuck on ship timetable. We had some poo weather (even the crew said it was the worse they've seen) and just by luck, every day we were docked and could go ashore, the weather let us down. All the nice days were at sea!C. Hawaii and islands yes. With a 7 and 4 year old absolutely not.
Not one of the positive responses appears to be from people who travelled as a family. Over 2 weeks it's the best part of 30hrs+ in aircraft and airports. A lot of the trips/scenery in Hawaii again wouldn't have much interest to young kids i..e Pearl Harbor and the like. Personally I just think you will get more when you can go as a pair, or when the kids are a lot older.
I'd desperately love to go back to Hawaii and take Mrs Tide as she has never been. With kids of any age, debatable, with kids under 10, never.0 -
Went with my daughter (then 21) last summer; did the LV, Hawaii, San Fran tour. Absolutely loved Oahu and really want to return.
If you do go have a fab time.0 -

We went to Maui/Oahu before we were married and we travelled to Hawaii again when our daughter was 6 months old.
Sure, we all can have 'more fun' without the kids - we certainly do now - but it certainly did not spoil any aspect of our trip at the time - nor should it for anyone else wishing to take their children.0 -

thanks for your post - I think that it was exactly what I needed to hear. The long flights wouldn't be an issue as they are both happy on long hauls. My son would absolutely love visiting Pearl Harbour and the military side of things and my daughter would mosey along besides us.
But I feel that Hawaii would be a one time trip, and that we would get a lot more out of it, if the children were older and able to appreciate the place more (the same way that we didn't visit the Grand Canyon when were were in Nevada 2 years ago, to my son it would have simply been a very big hole in the ground !).
So a great place to go (says one and all) but maybe when the children are a touch older.0 -
hi everyone
I was wondering which operators/websites people have booked through for Hawaii trips... would love to go in September this year
A few websites i've seen look a bit suspect, not sure if they're trustworthy :eek:0 -
Hi, I went there for my honeymoon, but it was 9 years ago now.
We stayed on Maui for a fortnight, and island hopped to Oahu within that time to see Pearl Harbour, Waikiki beach etc.
I personally found Waikiki very busy and commercialised but adored Maui. The beaches were amazing and the sunsets are just like you imagine them to be on a picture postcard. There are lots of things to do and places to visit rather than just laying by the pool or beach, but I personally wouldn't take my children there (7 year old twins). I would wait until they were in their teens perhaps, or even better my husband and I are planning to go back for our 25th wedding anniversary. Only another 16 years to dream and save up then!!
It really was the best holiday ever for me, and I look back on it with such fond memories. Am sure whenever you decide to go, you will love it.
