Jet2 seat allocation

Booked some flights with Jet2 from LBA in July ,can anyone clarify how they allocate the seats please
This is from their web site ...
"Seats will be allocated at check-in, on a first come - first served basis"

Sorry if this sounds stupid but does the seat allocation at check in mean at the airport or when checking in online ?

Never been with them before and i just assumed it was a mad scrum like all the other low cost airlines

we have a first flight booked with them in August - when I booked there was an option to pay to pick seats which we didn't bother with. I am expecting to get given seat numbers when we check in online (28 days before the flight) although would be interested to know if you can choose from what is not already taken or whether you get what you are given

If you choose not to pay to pick your seats, you'll be allocated ones when you check-in - whether online or at the airport.

I checked in online last week for my flight in a couple of weeks time. It seems quite random but you are just allocated any old seat. I refuse to pay for choosing an ordinary seat on a plane.

Flown Jet2 loads of times but only done the online check in a couple of times. Basically if you dont choose not to pay for a seat reservation then a seat will be allocated to you when you check in online or in the airport. When I check in online I have been given seats next to each other BUT i have heard that one busier flights they allocate random seats all over the plane. You do have the option then to pay to change the seat, a cunning plan to get money. But as I say this hasnt happened to me.

I have two kids and the wife towing along in August so have just bitten the bullet and paid for seat allocation, cant be doing with the worry.
