Engine Management Light

Hi, This morning my engine management light came on but my car, a Seat Leon 1.6v, seemed to drive fine. Just taken it out tonight and the light is still there but now the EPC warning light appears intermittently, according to the manual this a preheating/accelerator pedal problem, the car was stalling each time I had to stop with battery symbol flashing up at this point, seemed fine after a while.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem is & how much it will be to fix if they're correct? Going to ring garage in morning but want to know what I'm in for, cost wise.
Thanks

Have you got a friendly garage??
I have an independent SEAT mechanic in my area, and I always take my car to him - quite often, the
light just needs resetting.
No idea re costs - but if it's a main dealer that you are seeing, I would double whatever your estimate is..>!!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -

I use a local independent garage who have always given me a fair price, when jobs have taken longer or there's been a hitch they've stuck to the quote. Hopefully they're have the right software to read the codes. As my insurance & service is due soon it's an expense I could do without, hopefully we're not talking hundreds.

Sound wierd, but I reckon it will be your brake light switch or engine temp sender. Your independant wont pick that up on his cheap diagnostics machine as the fault rarely shows itself there, but years of VAG experience tells me that 95% of problems like that, the brake light switch or temp sender will be the issue. £15-20 for either.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0
