Im sure you could read the readings at 8....well done but that doesn't help me especially as like I put in a previous message the meters are in a locked cupboard that no one seemed to have access to so how could I have taken any readings?
If all else failed, any of these would have been able to help

But personally I would have contacted my landlord or managing agent to demand I had access to my meters if I were you.
(Mind you, you weren't the tenant so had no right to demand anything )"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I’d certainly ask the question with regards to the readings used for your start date and end date. As mentioned these may well be in line with reads provided by other tenants either side of your tenancy, and if so would mean the bill is essentially correct.
Payment arrangements are a form of goodwill and compensation and are offered in situations like these, they have no impact on your credit rating.
Understandably paying for an old account whilst now paying for your current usage in your current property is going to be difficult, you’ll need to enter into negotiations with the agent handling your case to agree an amount; this will again be very much dependent on the circumstances of your individual case.
No interest is applied.

You bob itch and you scream and you fight until you get access. And I would force access ultimately. Because as you now realise, there is £1000 at stake.
It is TOTALLY unacceptable to have consumers meters not accessible by the consumers. TOTALLY unacceptable. But if people don't understand the role of the meter in household economics, they won't do anything about it. There must be thousands of locked meter cupboards up and down the country and possibly the majority of the customers have no means of getting in to read their meters. This must not be accepted as a norm. If people cannot gain access by fair means, then they should break them open.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Why anyone is taking his side I cannot understand. My G/F rang whne we moved in,we couldn't get to the meters when we move in, we couldn't get reads............oh we have a big bill.
Who do you think was going to pay it the fairies?
If your girlfiriends name was on the lease then technically the debt is hers.if you were joint leesees then you are both responsible.
Wher did the DCA get you details from? Has someone broken DPA here. Check with Eon that there DCA's have not broken any rules.
After that ask the DCA if you can set up a DD to pay off your debt and move on.....................and take readings0
