True swanfan, only barbeque we can use up here is one firmly inside.

3Dogs, no doubt you are missing your servants, hope you're coming back to earth slowly

Carol, sorry you're so busy, hope things settle down for you and you get used to your new routine

Off to work now again, back later

Good afternoon gang.

To any newcomers joining or lurking on DFW please don't be put off by the trolls and please do post if you want some help or advice or are in financial difficulties. The vast majority of people are willing to help and be supportive and the others we deal with pretty sharp - smiley-fighting0027.gifsmiley-fighting0027.gif

This life is hard without our 'servants' we had on the Royal Scotsman - hubbie made my breakfast and I made BLT at 3 pm - it was lovely being waited on all the time
"]dscf9849.th.jpg
Some of the Royal Scotsman staff lined up alongside the train as we disembarked
We thought that it woud have been a hard week for the staff with us mad lot on board, but our Host, John, said the staff had all loved it, as we included them in everything (even dragging one of them out onto the plaform at midnight to join us for Strip the Willow & Gay Gordon in the rain) and did not look down on them as some of their normal clientelle do

3Dogs - It sounds like you had a whale of a time and why not! It's nice that you all included the staff as you're right, they probably don't get treated that well very often:T probably a snooty lot like Lady Hooray and the like.

Carol - nice to hear from you hope you're OK.

Ames- How did the flat hunting go?

Erme - Nothing from you today - are you OK?

Swanhic - Yea!! We've had a bit of rain today but not nearly enough, was supposed to go to my sister's today but put it off because of the rain so am going tomorrow instead! Sorry if it ruined your B-B-Q.

Nargle - Hope your night duties are not manic!

Spoon - Yes, she who must be obeyed (or her indoors!) she's 5 soon (going on 25) we made some banana bread today and she was sitting here drooling for the 1 1/2 hours it took to cook as she could smell it:rotfl:Ah bless she does like helping me to cook but I have a helluva lot of clearing up to do afterwards, oh well that's what nan's are for I suppose:)

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

• Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new on here. I don't have debt troubles (more of a MFW) but I'm hoping some of my cost control experience and general money savviness from being an accountant can help people out. I just want to give something back if you know what I mean (and given my working hours cyber space is the only place to do it)!

Anyway, for anyone interested I'm 29, a qualified CIMA accountant, living in Berkshire with DH. Spent all my childhood and 'til I started qualifying poor as a church mouse so pretty good at the NSDs! I love cooking, travelling, my DH, dogs, gardening, cross stitching and Vigo Mortensen (not necessarily in that order)!
I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.

Hi happycamel and welcome.

All people welcome - even those without debts. As long as people are interested in money saving / budgeting etc etc.

Another new page so time for Pania's quote again

Hi everybody.

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.

If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.

what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?

firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.

The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!

It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.

Kind wishes
P

Welcome to oldcomers and newcomers :D

• Hi happycamel :hello:

Welcome on board. I'm sure there will be lots of people who will ask you for advice and it's nice of you to offer it. Meantime feel free to hang around with us on here where we are all friendly (if somewhat mad!) and like to keep this thread (commonly known as fred) on page 1 so feel free to join in with a BUMP when necessary, or just when you feel like it!:D
