A new page time for one of these x ;)

Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.

    What is a Troll?
A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made. If you should get such a comment made on any thread you post, asking for help and advice, please realise this comment is not directed at you personally so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal because the majority of us really are a lovely bunch – ooops, modesty!

What should I do if I get a comment made on my thread?
Firstly do not respond to the comment as this is invariably what the troll wants. So to get rid of the offending post, at the bottom of the post towards the right hand side you’ll see a red "Warning" triangle within a blue “Abuse” icon, as shown below:

    report.gif

Click the icon and then "send" the message which will inform the abuse team of the post, who will then review its content and deal with it as appropriate; sometimes even deleting the troll by making their status PPR’d (Posting Privileges Removed). Remember, this site is an asset to so many people, especially those that feels like their world is falling in around them. There is a wealth of knowledgeable people here all willing to help, whatever you do, do not let the comments of one silly individual deter you from availing yourself of the knowledge base that is on offer here.

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE FORUM

It is testament to the work that Martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time, knowledge and experience freely to others; without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of their debt crisis

PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT

Good morning everyone, just putting off mucking out the chickens by wasting some time on here! Suppose I had better get on and do it, doesn't take that long once you get started, and they both managed to produce eggs this morning so they deserve nice clean quarters.

I shall be watching the England game this evening, but that still doesn't change my basic feeling that the game has degenerated over the years into something that is run by crooks, played by thugs and supported by morons. Apologies to all genuine non-moronic fans out there, but I know of no other sport where you get all the hassle and trouble you get with football, so it has to be the culture around it. And all those waving their England flags - where were you all on St George's Day?

Hello again and welcome to Jemmie. This thread (entitled Notice to Newcomers) exists to remind any new posters that sometimes they may encounter unpleasant people on social networking sites, and to ignore them as most people on here are really nice. We constantly post on this thread to "bump" it back to the front page so it is in constant view. While we are doing it we chatter about anything and everything under the sun, so feel free to join in. If you have any specific problem you want advice about, you look for the "New Thread" button at the top of the front page and click on that to start your own thread.

Hello Erme and welcome - this is the Notice to Newcomers thread which is just a means of letting new people know that if they get any nasty comments on their threads then to ignore them, as you get these "trolls" on all social netwroking sites. The majority of people on here are friendly, and we just keep bumping this thread to the top of the list to keep the message in sight. Consequently we sometimes talk a load of old pony, but some would say we have stimulating conversations! Please feel free to join in with the bumping!

If you want to join the No Spend Day challenge, look at the Gentle Jump into June thread. The object of that is to plan your spending so that as many days as possible in the month are No Spend days. We also plan virtual days out - last month we scandalised Brighton with an assortment of donkeys, mad tattooists and chocolate and beetroot brownies together with being rescued by firemen and trundling down the motorways on the backs of elephants and lawnmowers - and all without leaving the comfort of our own imaginations. This month we will be having a chavvy cider bash in the alleyways of Leeds, watching the Wimbledon mens' final, and invading Stonehenge on Midsummer Eve, so feel free to join in!

Hello Jemmy - welcome to MSE
    Good morning everyone
Ooops, sorry if my comments on football offended any footie fans:o. Hope everyone watching the game tonight enjoys it (and promise no more comments about football while the World Cup is on:D)

No offence taken spoon - us proppa footie fans are used to it anyway !!!! I promise we are not football hooligans and if you say we are hubbie says he will come round and smash your house up !!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Totally agree about greedy spoilt footballers spoiling football

Just caught up on the thread so here goes:

Handy - glad you got that debt sorted - well done to you and Niddy
    :T
Nicca - she will be in Isle of Wight now won't she - looking forward to seeing updateson DIY SOS next week on Mike's thread

Allie - well done and good luck for your interview next Friday :j

Hiya to everyone else - hope I have not missed any important messages out :o I promise to keep up to date again - been a bit 'mixed up' this week

Can't remember if I posted on here or not but I did tell you about my 2 Lodgers didn't I? Well the dogs went back late on the following day when daughter came round to say mother discharged from hospital and was back to look after them. Daughter asked me to keep an eye on her mother, just in case! But neighbour himself did come home the following evening. No-one came round to thank us for looking after the dogs, although the daughter did at the time but they are not her dogs!! Hubbie bumped into neighbour yesterday but all he said to hubbie was 'Oh Hi Al*n cold today isn't it' no mention on dogs at all, or of his ladyfriend. Can understand if he was embarassed to speak about her taking the pills, etc but if anyone had taken in my dogs like that, i would be thanking them straight away - profusely

We can't all be the same I suppose but common courtesy surely ?? come on  It upset me actually, and got to me quite a bit, which is why I have been a bit hap-hazard on here - we are both the type of people who help others out whenever they can, we don't do it for thanks, but it is nice to be appreciated :mad::mad: I do suffer from depression, and things like this do affect me and knock me back, so I am just pulling myself back now. Sorry if this sound wimpish or self-indulgent, just needed to say it really. Thanks for listening.

Now where are those trolls & spammers, let me at 'em

Some folk are just plain ignorant, 3Dogs - that's it in a nutshell. Sounds like the neighbour was probably very embarrassed and totally out of his depth with the situation. Or in that great river in Egypt....
