Mauritius 10 nights (AI) - Can you beat this?

Hi all, my fiancee and I have decided on Mauritius for our honeymoon.

We want to fly out on 7th August, but could go 8th and maybe 9th if need be.

We want to stay for 10 nights, all inclusive, in the North of the island, at a 4* or greater hotel.

We've had a quote from Dream Mauritius as follows:
"The holiday is based on return flights with Air Mauritius flying in Economy Class. The hotel details are as follows:
Hotel: Maritim Hotel (4*)
Check in: Sun 08-Aug-2010
Duration: 10 nights
Check out: Wed 18-Aug-2010

Room x1, Room Type: Prestige room (GibsonSt19: which is an upgrade room)
Meal Plan: All Inclusive

Price:
Room 1: @ £1598 per adult (2 Adults )

The price includes:
Return transfers from Mauritius Intl Airport to Mauritius Hotels 2. (Transfer Type: Standard Air Conditioned Minibus)"
Can anyone see a way of bettering this quote?

Thanks so so much, I really appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

Unless I'm missing something I have just checked their website for prices and it is currently showing as £1232pp (including taxes and surcharges but not transfers) ??

I would pop the full details in this thread as travel agents are more likely to spot it there:

They don't offer the Maritim, but you could also check out the selection of hotels offered by Mercury Direct who seem to have quite a lot of satisfied customers.

Thanks Incapuppy, yeah, I spoke to them on the phone, and they advised the price difference was due to the seat availability with the airline. Cheap seats gone :(

We'd had a look on Mercury, but they didn't have the hotel we wanted to stay at, but they certainly do have some good reviews online.

Thanks for the link too, I may just re-post there!

Funnily enough I was checking out the Maritim on TA yesterday, it does look lovely!

Have you checked pricing with flights with Emirates via Dubai?

V Jealous of you going to Mauritus!! Try Marks travel (not sure what phone number is but if you google them it will come up). I know they specialise in holidays to exotic places (we went to the not so exotic Mexico with them last year) and they frequently have special deal s on for Mauritius (inlcuding a recent b&b deal for about £600!!). Good luck x

You could try Sunset Travel, Imbel Travel they do some good flight deals, but there customer services is lousy. We pay somewhere between 500 and 700 for flights.

Also Mauritius has local and international prices for accommodations. If by any chance you know any Mauritian, ask them to book the accommodation for you. It's ridicolously cheap £20 a night for 8 room bungalow on the beach (Flic on Flac).

    Hope that has helped somewhat.
